In short
- We set one cookie, and only when you sign in: it keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the portals to work.
- We remember your light or dark theme choice in your own browser, not in a cookie.
- We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party scripts that set them. That is why this site doesn’t show a cookie consent banner.
The cookie we set

The cookie holds only a random session identifier — none of your details. It is marked HttpOnly (scripts on the page can’t read it), SameSite=Lax (it isn’t sent with requests started by other sites, apart from following a link to us) and Secure (sent only over HTTPS). Separately from the cookie’s lifetime, a session also ends after a period without use (24 hours by default).
On a local development copy of the site, which runs without HTTPS, the same cookie is called emhub_sid.
What we store in your browser
If you choose a light or dark theme, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the name emhub-theme so the site looks the same next time. It never leaves your device and isn’t sent to us. If you haven’t chosen, the site follows your device’s setting. Your study and accessibility preferences are saved with your account instead (see the Privacy Policy).
No analytics or advertising
We don’t use analytics, advertising, social media or other tracking cookies or similar technologies, and we don’t allow third parties to set cookies through our site. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before it happens.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookie you can still browse the public site, but you won’t be able to sign in to the portals. Clearing your browser’s site data also resets your theme choice.
